Substance abuse and disturbing behaviour in public places and in public transport create insecurity which often requires more control. Surveillance increases safety, but also trust to people around us brings safety. Together we can create a safe and comfortable public space for everyone.
Everyone’s city -campaign was organised in public transport in Helsinki. The aim of the campaign was to increase the sense of security and comfort in public transport as well as in other public spaces. During the campaign, the citizens could share their experiences and memories of public transport. These stories were written as poems by Helsinki Poetry Connection. Poems received their premiere in Helsinki subway on December 15, 2018.
Poets Samppa Varis, Aino Huusko and Jonna Nummela, aka. Nihkee Akka participated in the project from Helsinki Poetry Connection.
The campaign was organized by Ehkäisevän päihdetyön järjestöverkosto (The Network for Preventive Substance abuse work), HSL, HKL and Måndag. As a cooperation partner, City of Helsinki, City Executive Office, Safety and Preparedness Unit.
