Skills within the creative industries are at a high level in the Nordic countries, but Nordic creative professionals need new, informal ways to meet and share ideas – light structures focusing on human encounters.
The Nordic Culture Point and creative agency Måndag are developing a new networking platform, Nordic Match. The focus is on low threshold professional encounters and competence exchange, with an aim to strengthen collaboration between cultural professionals in the Nordics. Nordic Match is a highly value-based concept, with emphasis on societal participation.
Nordic Match provides a possibility for creative and cultural professionals to visit Helsinki. During the visit, the guests will be staying at their Helsinki based colleagues’ homes and familiarise themselves with the local cultural scene through a carefully curated networking program built for them. In exchange, the guests will share their knowledge and expertise as part of the Nordic Culture Point’s events program.
The very first Nordic Match get-together during Helsinki Design Week in 2018 focused on the establishment of a creative exchange platform. The following Nordic Match was organized in April 2019 under a theme of migration. In April, participants collaborated with the Finnish Refugee Council and their Empathy Movement. Next Nordic Match will be held on October 2019, this time in a collaboration with the Finnish National Theatre. This time, participants will focus on youth participation in creative processes.
Nordic Match serves the needs of the Nordic cultural field directly by establishing new and sustainable collaboration processes.
