An independent organization founded in 1956, the Finnish Kone Foundation awards grants to promote research, culture and art. And we are not talking about peanuts here. For bold projects undertaken in 2017, the foundation granted more than 41.5 million euros.
Kone Foundation’s philosophy lies in providing alternatives to the mainstream. Advancing a better world through bold initiatives and collaboration between research and arts. Crossing borders in a radical way.
During the application period of fall 2017, Måndag planned and executed the foundation’s social media presence during the two intense weeks. This year, the applicants had less time than before. This means the word needed to spread around efficiently and in an engaging manner – and fast.
Together with Kone Foundation, we set to widen the old audience. Open-minded professionals. Some of them not having even heard of the Finnish foundation.
The awarded projects are always somehow linked to Finland but, on top of this, crossing conventional boundaries is a big plus. This goes for mixing fields of expertise, nationalities and other methods and groups of people.
Through Facebook, we encouraged people to create new networks combining science, arts and other cultural work in a brand new way. The campaign was put into action using high-quality content such as video greetings from researchers, engaging articles from the grant beneficiaries of the past, Facebook live Q&A sessions to help with the practicalities and interesting infographics from Kone Foundation’s vivid past.
Encouraging, open-minded, brave and even provocative. Just like the foundation itself.
