Tikau’s aim is not only to make beautiful items – the Finnish company pursues a genuine intention to make the world a better place. But sustainable design is more than meets the eye.
Founded in 2008, Tikau is a Finnish company combining Scandinavian design with the vision of employing and empowering artisans where these are needed, mostly in communities subject to discrimination in India. Tikau’s exclusive products are manufactured by individual artisans and small-scale producers in their homes or in small workshops. Taking a uniquely long-term, personal and humane approach, all Tikau products also have identifiable origins.
Tikau has been a pioneer in Finland by combining “trade and aid” as well as introducing and promoting something known as Design Helps thinking. The word Tikau comes from Hindi and stands for sustainable and durable. Tikau works in close collaboration with the charity based NGO Tikau Share.
Måndag is helping Tikau to renew brand strategy, social media strategy and develop ongoing campaigns and content.
