Milele Zanzibar Foundation: Forever Zanzibar!

Change vision: towards a good life in Zanzibar
Milele is translated from Kiswahili and means “forever”. Milele Zanzibar Foundation started in 2014 as a small initiative by a group of concerned individuals from Zanzibar and around the world to improve the quality of life for Zanzibaris. The Foundation made fundamental strides and is now starting to make a difference by addressing some of the most persistent development gaps in the archipelago and targeting the most remote and poorly managed areas of Zanzibar.

For more than a decade, the Milele Zanzibar Foundation has been a highly effective development organisation and a key partner of the revolutionary government of Zanzibar. It has worked in over 40 shehia (villages) and impacted the lives of 345,000 people. The organisation is a highly recognised success story in Zanzibar, with Zanzibar’s President, His Excellency Dr Hussein Mwinyi, openly and regularly describing MZF as the best NGO in Zanzibar.

Action: 10 years of turning development ideas into real community solutions
Måndag has started a partnership with the Milele Zanzibar Foundation. The Foundation is now 10 years old and its activities are growing and developing. Together, we set out to define the current situation and develop our activities. An important part of the collaboration is building a brand strategy, we want to attract more and more friends and partners of Milele, in Zanzibar, Tanzania and around the world.

Impact: we make Zanzibar last forever
Our goal is to improve the Foundation’s operations and we also want to measure the positive impact on people’s lives. The Foundation has always worked through people, helping where help is really needed. In addition to local work, the Foundation also looks to the world and wants to build effective partnerships.
